If you are looking for a lip product that will provide your lips with long lasting colour, you might want to consider trying a lip stain. This is available in a range of colours and can be as subtle or as out there as you dare to go.
What is a Lip Stain?
A lip stain is a gel or liquid based cosmetic. It is applied to the lips to add colour.
It is different to a lipstick because it is not wax based in composition.
The Benefits of Using a Lip Stain
There are several benefits to choosing a lip stain.
This product is waterproof so you do not have to worry about the colour fading as you get on with your day or you are out for the evening.
It has a matte finish, which can be quite nice if you are going for a natural effect.
Lip stains are smudge-proof. This is great news if you worry about leaving traces of your make-up on wine glasses, coffee cups or your partner's cheek.
Depending on the brand that you use, one application of a lip stain can last up to 6 hours.
How Does it Come?
There are a few options to choose from. You should take a look at each one and pick the application method that best suits you.
You can get a lip stain that comes in a slimline bottle. This type of product has its own applicator. Or you can buy lip stains in little jars.
You would either use a lipstick brush to apply or you can use your finger. A very simple option is if you go for the lip stains that look like marker pens.
This is very easy to use because it is easy to hold and direct along your lip line.
How To Use a Lip Stain for The Best Results
If you want to create a long lasting effect with a lip stain, first moisturise the lips with a good quality lip balm. Pat the lips dry to remove any excess balm.
Apply the lip stain, starting from the centre of the upper lip, and work outwards.
Do this quite quickly so that the lip stain dries evenly. If you want a deeper colour, add a second layer. Then leave to dry.
You can choose to use a lip liner to provide an outline for your lips but if you prefer a more natural look, then give this step a miss.
If you are worried that your lips will dry out too much, add a light layer of your lip balm to lock on the moisture.
If you prefer a shiny finish, then you can add a layer of clear coloured lip gloss at the end.
