When it is time to start thinking about Halloween costumes, there are lots of different themes that you can choose from.

One great example for women and girls who want to dress up as a superhero is the Supergirl Halloween costume.

Who Is Supergirl?
The character of Supergirl is connected with the better known superhero Superman. She is in fact his cousin and has the same unique super powers as he does.

Her alter ego is called Linda Danvers and this character was created by writer Otto Binder, illustrated by Al Pastino and first appeared in DC Comics in 1959.

The Supergirl Costume – The Components
This costume is available for women, teens and little girls and is completely suitable for all. The main difference tends to be the length of the skirt.

The costume for little girls normally has a longer skirt than the skirt for teens and women.

These following items make up the complete outfit and are sold as a set and include the dress, the cape and the boot tops. Just like the Superman costume, the colours used are a combination of red, blue and gold.

The Supergirl Dress
The main part of this costume is the dress. This consists of a bright blue top that has long sleeves and has gold trim around the cuffs and around the collar.

On the top you will recognise that the gold Superhero insignia is printed on the front.


The top is attached to a bright metallic red skirt, which for women is a thigh skimming affair.

For younger girls, the skirt falls at a much more appropriate length. The top and the skirt are neatly divided by a metallic gold belt. This is made from the same fabric as the trim on the cuffs and collars.

Supergirl’s Cape
One of the most important skills that this super heroine has is the ability to fly and so this costume would not be complete without that much needed cape.

Supergirl’s cape is made from a bright red fabric and it is attached to the top of the dress already so there is no need to fiddle with ribbons or ties.

Supergirl’s Boots
The final part of this costume is the boots. You are provided with a great pair of boot tops that you simply slip on over your own boots.

These are made in the same metallic fabric that has been used for the skirt and belt. The main part of these boot tops is red with a gold trim.

A superhero costume is a great choice for Halloween or indeed any special event that needs a fancy dress outfit. If you have a partner or friend, you could both decide to go as a double act where Supergirl and Superman both turn up for all the fun.
