Eczema is an irritating skin condition that affects millions of people. The symptoms can be so difficult to deal with that most people end up going to the doctor to get something to try to treat these symptoms.
But the problem is that the majority of these treatments contain steroids.
Steroids cannot be used for the long term treatment of eczema because of the side effects they can cause.
Thankfully, you can use essential oils to find relief without the nasty side effects that steroids give.
One of the things that eczema does is that it causes itching from the inflammation of the skin.
This itching can be mild or severe depending on the person.
For itching, whether it's mild or severe, you can use lavender essential oil.
This oil helps soothe the skin and relieves the itching. You can also use helichrysum to help control the itching.
One of the reasons that eczema can cause itchiness and scaling is because the condition can further dry out already irritated skin.
So you want an essential oil that works to keep the skin softer.
You can find an essential oil that does this in almond oil.
This oil is so good at helping to moisturize skin that it's used in many over the counter skin lotions.
It has anti-inflammatory properties which cause a reduction in the swelling, itching and redness common with eczema.
Evening primrose essential oil is another oil that's also good for helping to treat eczema.
This oil, made from the wildflower by the same name, contains necessary fatty acids that help the skin.
Using evening primrose treats eczema by reducing the itch. It also acts to help clear up the redness.
This essential oil does have the potential to interact with some medication prescriptions that you may be using.
So make sure you check before you use this essential oil.
Walnut essential oil contains properties known to soften the skin.
It helps ease the symptoms of eczema because it helps to moisturize the skin.
Mixed with a cold pressed carrier oil, many essential oils carry the ability to help the skin heal from eczema.
Apricot kernel essential oil is one of these oils.
It can be used to relieve the redness because it moisturizes skin and acts as an anti-inflammatory.
When you see an avocado, you might think of how delicious it tastes.
But as an essential oil, avocado can bring much needed help for those dealing with eczema.
Because it contains many fatty acids as well as several of the B vitamins, it has the ability to treat the symptoms of this condition.
The oil can be applied directly to the skin to revitalize it.
