Planning Frightening Halloween Parties

The closer it gets to October 31st, the more you will hear about peoples’ plans to hold Halloween parties. If you’ve never held one before and you are thinking of changing all that this year, there has never been a better time to start planning.

The sooner you get things underway the less stressful and the more enjoyable your party will be.

The first thing you should do is to decide whether your party will be open to adults and children, or whether it will be one or the other.

This may influence your planning. For example a party designed just for adults could open the way for more dramatic costumes.

It will also influence the snacks and treats you have available. If you are hosting a party for kids and adults together, you know you have to have a wider range of tasty finger food on offer to suit everyone.

Bobbing for apples is a perennial favorite but you should build in other games as well. Adults might enjoy a different version of “Who Am I?” where they get to do an impression of a dead celebrity or movie star.

And how about writing down the names of as many horror films as you can, so that your guests can act them out one by one for everyone else to guess?

You also have to create a creepy atmosphere to really get into the mood. Think about all the ways you can transform your home into a dark and ghoulish venue for a Halloween party.

Carve out some pumpkins and line them up outside your doorway with a candle lit inside each one.

This will make the party easier to find for starters, as well as getting people in the mood. Find some CDs of spooky music that you can play during the party too.

When it comes to decorating your home for Halloween, there are countless places online that sell Halloween accessories to make every creepy party go with a swing.

You can invest in some fake gravestones, spiders, huge webs, bats, zombies and much more besides. You’d be amazed how much you can buy if you have the budget to cover it all.
