Live an Authentic Life for Personal Satisfaction

A very common issue that people experience when they’re trying to find true happiness or success is that they don’t really feel as though they’re being true to themselves.

What you once thought was a life goal of yours isn’t really interesting to you anymore, and the career you wanted to have doesn’t make you feel truly accomplished.

These are the times in which you have to be able to really evaluate yourself. A lot of our dreams and ideal situations are based around those of other people in our lives rather than ourselves.

If you grew up with a family that constantly expected something from you, but that something didn’t actually interest you, you might’ve had to convince yourself otherwise.

This works alright in short terms, but in the long run, that lie you’ve told yourself will start to come to the surface and reveal itself.

If you’re constantly in fear of showing your truest self, then you’re not surrounded by people who actually care about you. You should never have to create some kind of alter ego that you put on around others just to make them accept you.

It’s your life, and you should be able to live it as you want to. Living authentically means you’re doing things that genuinely interest you and make you happy.

Instead of trying to become rich just because that’s what your family drove you towards, you’re doing a job that you love doing no matter what.

Authentic living has so many different advantages that can help you live a more satisfying life. Obviously, you’ll be a lot happier. You’ll be less prone to stress, which can help your mental and physical health greatly.

There won’t be this lingering feeling of regret, wishing that you could just go back in time and change the course of your life a bit. You’ll do your job a lot better than you would any other, because it’s something that you’re actually passionate about.

Additionally, you’ll start to attract people who are happy with the real you, which can be a great relief.

Having to deal with people who don’t know the real you can be extremely uncomfortable and frustrating, but having someone who appreciates you for who you are is really amazing.

These people might be potential relationship interests or just simple friends, but either way, it’s very nice to have them there when you need them.

Self Sufficiency Is More Satisfying Than Dependency on Others

One of the most demeaning things that you can experience is having to be at the mercy of someone else.

It almost feels as if you’re not really in control of your life, which can lead to confusion about what you’re even supposed to be doing in life.

It’s embarrassing to have to rely constantly on others for things like financial help, partially because they may get annoyed at you, and partially because you don’t feel proud of what your situation is.

It’s important for everyone to enjoy personal satisfaction and success in life, but when you’re constantly turning to others to ask permission to do something, or seeking their approval, it results in a feeling of discontent.

Being overly dependent on others can make you feel juvenile, like a little kid who’s dependent on their parents. There are a few ways to start breaking this pattern, depending on how you’re reliant on others.

If you’re reliant on others financially, you’ll likely have to sacrifice some luxuries at first in order to become financially independent. You probably won’t be able to go out as often as you used to, and you won’t be able to buy things you want - just the things you need.

Buying cheap food in bulk can help save tons of money compared to eating out at restaurants and at fast food places. Of course, to become really financially independent, you’ll need a source of income first.

If you don’t have a job, apply to some entry-level positions and see if you can start to develop a means of making money. There’s no shame in working a minimum wage job - it’s much better than being unemployed and relying on others.

Check around at fast food jobs, grocery stores, and other common places. Sometimes working these jobs will give you an employee discount, which can help you save even more money.

You can also become more self sufficient by living out on your own. This can be more or less difficult, depending on where you live, because some places have more expensive apartments than others.

If it’s within your budget, living on your own can make you feel a lot more independent than rooming with someone or living with your family.

Becoming self sufficient is one of the best ways to boost your confidence.

Sometimes it’s not even financial. There are many people who rely on others for emotional happiness.

This is not only dangerous for you, since you’re giving up control, but it’s draining on the people you rely on. So you have to learn to seek out satisfaction on your own and pursue that goal.

When you become self sufficient in all areas of life, you’ll stop feeling demeaned and start realizing what true personal satisfaction is all about.

It’s an important first step to improving your overall success in life, because if you have to rely on others for everything, the chances are low that you’ll be able to carve your own path for success.

Finding Fault in Your Efforts Without Allowing It to Derail You

There are many things that you do to yourself that can impact your self-worth. One of these is when you find fault in your efforts and you let it make you quit your goals. The funny thing about being self-critical is that it’s actually helpful if you use it in the right way.

When you find fault in your efforts the right way, you put your self-discovery to work to help you improve whatever it is that you’re pursuing. For those who don’t allow themselves to be self-critical, they miss out on something that could propel them to greater success.

People who are self-critical have a tendency not to act in haste. Instead, they look at the negative aspects of a situation and try to figure out what could go wrong.

This allows someone who finds faults with their efforts to be less likely to lack preparedness for the task at hand as well as with future endeavors.

Being self-critical makes people more likely to assess what other people say rather than not being teachable. They welcome the ideas of others and are willing to consider that there are things they don’t know.

They turn to mentors more quickly for help than most people do. The action of paying attention to what others have to say or seeking the knowledge of others can help accomplish whatever you’re seeking much faster.

When you allow yourself to find fault in your efforts, you’re always working to improve yourself, your relationships, your career and any objective that you set for yourself. The gift of being able to find fault also keeps you grounded and humble.

People who don’t practice self-criticism can become arrogant and unwilling to accept feedback. Finding fault allows you to practice self-analysis. You can look at both your successes and the things go wrong in a way that leads you to push yourself to new heights and to learn new problem solving skills.

But you have to be careful with self-criticism so that you don’t allow it to derail you. Some is good, while too much can be crippling. There are ways that you can avoid letting self-criticism stop you.

You have to separate the emotions from the task. When something fails, many people take the failure on as an identity. They’ll say, “I’m a failure,” rather than, “This situation failed to work out the way I’d hoped.”

That means you don’t take self-criticism personally, don’t allow it to define you or allow it be used against you like a battering ram.

Instead, you wield it in a way where you use it to knock down obstacles and propel you to greater achievements.

Let self-criticism motivate you, not beat you up. When finding fault, you have to learn to balance being good to yourself with the negative things you uncover about your efforts. Be willing to give yourself time to grow.

Many people have a future goal mapped out, but don’t realize that their knowledge, talent or abilities need to improve.

They see the future, but are still using today’s skillsets. You have to keep in mind that the more you grow, the more you’ll know.
