In 1928 a French chemist by the name of René-Maurice Gattefossé burnt his arm in an accident in a lab where he was working.
He discovered aromatherapy when he put his burning arm in some lavender oil and realized its effects.
Firstly, let’s take a look at what aromatherapy actually is.
Aromatherapy is a holistic approach to treatment of problems, spiritual, physical or physiological, with the external use of essential oils.
This is an ancient natural health practice that mixes certain aromatic scents which then stimulate the nerves in the nose.
These essential oils are used by applying them to the body through massage, by adding them to a warm bath or breathing in the vapors.
Those nerves then send messages to the part of the brain that controls certain functions.

The different scents that are used have different abilities to suit different ailments.
Aromatherapy should not be used to replace prescribed medical treatments but should instead be used in combination with them.
Aromatherapy treatment can enhance the prescribed medications that you are using to treat your ailments.
