A lot of people concentrate on saving money for the holidays, but don’t think to save all year long.
The truth is that you can easily save during all season and not just the holidays, which will make holiday-saving easier.
Below are tips for how you can save during each season.
** Winter **
Winter is a great time to save money, especially after Christmas. Here’s how.
• After-Holiday Sales:
Stores have tons of post-holiday sales as they’re trying to clear out their holiday inventory.
This can help you save a lot of money on holiday items as these are generally marked down the most…some up to 75% off!
• Shop for Seasonal Foods:
Save more money by shopping for seasonal foods at the grocery store instead of summer foods such as strawberries and grapes.
Some of the in-season foods you can buy at the grocery store during winter include potatoes, winter squash, kale, citrus fruits and various root veggies.
** Spring **
• Sales:
The first of spring is another good time to shop for sales.
Many stores put their winter clothing on sale, so you can often find great deals on winter clothing to wear next year at this time.
• Start a Garden:
Save money this spring and summer by starting your own garden.
Plant some of your favorite produce and enjoy it later when it matures!
• Save on Gifts:
One of the major holidays during the spring is Easter.
You don’t have to spend a lot on Easter gifts for the little ones in your life.
Instead, put a small basket of homemade treats together for them!
** Summer **
• Buy Produce in Bulk:
Again, buy the produce that’s in-season. Go ahead and buy extra produce and freeze what you don’t use at home.
This will help you save additional money in the off-season.
Things like corn, bell peppers and strawberries are all great and freeze well.
• Shop the Yard Sales:
Yard sales really get going in the summer months.
So, save some money on items by shopping for them at local yard sales.
• Enjoy a Staycation:
Instead of going somewhere for vacation, take a week off work and stay home.
Take it easy, go out to eat and visit local attractions you haven’t been able to before.
You’ll still be saving money because you’re lodging is free!
• Yard Work and Extra Cash:
If you enjoy doing yard work, then consider offering your services to someone who doesn’t (or can’t).
It’s a great way to make a little extra money.
** Fall **
• Buy Back-to-School Items Slowly:
A lot of people like to get all their back-to-school shopping done in one trip because it’s easier.
However, if you wait and browse the fliers for sales, you can save money by buying items as they go on sale at various stores.
• Don’t Hire Someone to Rake Leaves:
No one likes raking leaves and bagging them all up, but you’ll be surprised at the amount of money you’ll save if you do it yourself.
• Go through the Closet before Buying New:
Before you head out and purchase a new coat, winter boots, etc. go through your closet first.
If you already have some of these items, use them again this year and save your money for something you really need.
