We all have chaotic schedules, and sometimes, life can get a little overwhelming. It is, however, possible to make positive changes if you want to!
Follow our short guide to identify some tips on simplifying your life.
How to switch off and live a simpler life:
1. Walk more often.
It sounds like a small step, but walking more often has wondrous health benefits.
If you don’t need to use the car, why not wear your comfiest shoes, and go for a stroll?
Enjoy nature and become one with the peaceful and beautiful world around you. Enjoy the smaller, more beautiful parts of life.
By ditching the car, you’re helping to contribute to positive change, getting exercise, and feeling health benefits.
If you can avoid being stuck in a seemingly endless queue of cars and the smog and pollution they can generate, try it out.
Give your lungs the fresh air they deserve and find new walking areas.
It will allow you to clear your head, save money, and simplify your life by allowing you to have a few moments each day of calm, thoughtful reflection.
2. Avoid social media.
Sometimes, social media can be a disruptive influence to our otherwise happy and positive lives.
You may find yourself comparing parts of your life with people you have seen on social media.
You may find yourself in a position where you feel strangely sad and may find it difficult to improve your mood.
Social media can make us compare ourselves and give us a fear that we simply aren’t doing enough with our lives.
Consider ditching social media or cutting down your usage of various platforms.
You may feel a little bit more in control, and you won’t need to chase approval from people who may make you feel inadequate.
3. Consider a digital detox.
In a world where it can feel like we are always connected, there is a lot of pressure to reply to messages, check in with people, and be glued to our smartphones and tablets.
While real life is happening around us, we often lose perspective as we spend more time looking at our screen than where we are going.
Consider unplugging. Go for a walk and use your phone only for safety rather than as a vessel to constantly access social media and text friends.
When you get home from work, leave the tablet or the laptop behind and spend time with friends.
Your life may feel simpler if you briefly remove digital complications from it each day.
Allow yourself to feel more in control and freer to pursue your passions without technology's constant interruptions and complications.
4. Start your day with positivity.
Even just writing down five things you are grateful for every morning can be the difference between a negative and a positive day. Start your day with a healthy mindset to allow you to live happily and simply.
We don’t need to take drastic steps to change our lives.
By simply considering our use of social media and technology and appreciating the natural world around us, we can learn to live more freely and learn to live without unnecessary drama and complications. Give it a go!
