If you’re like me, you want your kids decked out in the best child Halloween costumes of the season, the type that fills your little ones with delight.
Well, take a look at the list below to for some great ideas:
Ideas for Kids Elementary Age and Younger
Pirate: Elementary aged kids love dressing up as a pirate and best of all; it’s an easy outfit to throw together at the last minute – and what busy parent doesn’t love that?!
An eye patch and a handkerchief tied around the head is all you need to turn a pair of dark pants and white shirt into an instant pirate costume!
Add a toy sword and a treasure chest for collecting goodies and the outfit is complete.
Gypsy: Little ones with a stash of dress-up clothes and accessories can easily put together a mish-mash of items to create a quick gypsy costume.
Simply tie a long scarf around the head and grab a tambourine to complete the look.
An eyeliner pencil creates a quick beauty mark and a little of mom’s make-up: a bit of blush and some light lipstick adds to the fun.
Flower: For this super easy costume, simply dress your child in all green. Purchase a favorite silk flower from the craft store and attach it to a stretchy headband.
Then, simply slip the headband onto your child’s head for an instant flower costume.
Have your little one don a green tulle tutu for added appeal and a set of wings for an instant flower fairy affect.
There are so many fun ways to create the best child Halloween costumes.
Start with an item that defines the character: a hardhat for a construction worker, a Stetson for a cowboy or cowgirl, a beret for an artist – all of which can be purchased online or at your local Halloween store.
Halloween Costumes for Elementary Age and Older
Hippie: Dig out those old bell-bottoms, tie-dye clothing, peace-symbol jewelry, and platform shoes to help your older child establish the quintessential hippie look.
Tourist: With a camera in hand and dressed in loud, obnoxious and bright clothing kids are easily transformed into a bewildered tourist.
Rock Star: Give kids a microphone and let them dress in glittery, fancy, wild clothing to create their own rock star image.
With a bit of imagination, the possibilities for the best child Halloween costumes are endless.
What about dressing up as a character from Willy Wonka, Alice in Wonderland, Judy Moody, or Ramona and Beezus?
Or maybe even a character out of Tangled, Disney’s re-envisioned version of Rapunzel?
Have fun with it and your kids are sure to as well.
