ComPETability: Solving Behavior Problems In Your Cat-Dog Household - book review
by Helene Malmsio
The author of "ComPETability" clearly has considerable experience in animal care, and had done the full research on cat and dog behaviour, as well as the history of each in their journey to becoming our little house buddies.
Her bio says that she is a vet assistant, and is also a guest speaker and well recognized writer in the field.
This is a bit of her bio, so that you learn a bit more about the person who is teaching you:
Amy Shojai has been reinventing herself for years. She’s a certified animal behavior consultant, and the award-winning author of 26 best selling pet books that cover furry babies to old-fogies, first aid to natural healing, and behavior/training to Chicken Soup-icity.
She is the Puppies Guide at puppies.About.com, the cat behavior expert at cats.About.com, and hosts a weekly half hour Internet Pet Peeves radio show.
Amy has been featured as an expert in hundreds of print venues including The New York Times, Reader’s Digest, and Family Circle, as well as national radio and television networks such as CNN, Animal Planet’s DOGS 101 and CATS 101. I really did enjoy reading this book, as even a seasoned pet carer with 40 years of fussing over furry kids, I learned a stack of new things about cats and dogs, their physiology, their history, and expecially about their behaviour.
I've had problems recently with a couple of adult arrivals that are having potty issues, and believe me when I say, that kind of problem brings grief to everyone in the household when they happen.
And I've picked up some good tips in
ComPETability: Solving Behavior Problems In Your Cat-Dog Household that I'm going to be implementing right away.
Since the two potty problem fur babies include a dog and a cat, both adults, both set in their ways, there are more challenges than with a new little-one.
So, wish me luck, I can say that I do recommend this book, it is comprehensive, and should be a good reference manual to return to in the future.

"You are a life Saver!!
I recently discovered this site and I can tell you that my life
has not been the same. I now come here EVERYDAY and spend at least 1
hour.
I used to spend that time browsing online fashion and beauty
magazine which just means that I spend more. Now I have replaced that
habit with coming here.
In future I will think about contributing articles as well. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! and God bless"
