ARCHOS 5 250 GB INTERNET MEDIA TABLET – EITHER YOU LOVE IT OR YOU HATE IT
If huge storage space and relief from the monotony of ipods is what the user is looking for, the media tablet from Archos that has a memory capacity of 250 GB would be the right choice. But since the brand is not yet well known for its service, there may be some flaws the user may experience.
It is a portable unit when seen in comparison with the amount of data it can hold. There are several aspects of the unit that have the capability to disappoint the user as it is not a perfect little unit.
This media player can hold all kinds of data including music, movies and pictures and has wifi connectivity that is enough for the average user. The unit can be used to record TV when the necessary equipment is purchased separately. The touch screen of the device is wide and bright.
Its responsiveness is also good and the menus are well designed that makes navigation through different items an easy task. The space of 250 GB is what is attractive to a lot of users as it means a lot of space enough to carry all of the data one may need at any time.
The sound output quality of the device is great and after deciding to spend a considerable amount of money on it, the rest is all entertainment. The web browser of the player is intuitively designed and is the best among its class.
The device has flash 8 and flash 9 support which is great for a few kinds of web pages. The fonts on the 4.8 inch wide touch screen look very clear and appealing.
It has the capability to store movies in .avi format too which is very common among most of the users. The video is also played in HD like clarity making it a pleasure to watch them on the device.
It is compatible with all the operating systems and the user would not find it difficult when data has to be transferred. The design of the unit is sleek and attractive and the ability of the device to take in media of any format is praise worthy when compared to ipods that need the music and videos to be converted to a particular format before transferring.
The major drawback for this device is the customer service. If the device works fine the user does not need to speak to them and hence this flaw is ruled out. But in case the user gets a defective product or needs some help with the operation of the device, he may go through a tough time dealing with the customer service. The surfing has to be done slowly on the unit as it tends to crash if used like a professional.
In order to play a particular kind of music, videos, and podcasts, the user has to purchase plug-ins separately adding to the price of the device. The battery life of the unit is not up to the mark and hence needs to be charged more than other players in order to use it continuously.
It is good for those who need what it exactly offers and has its own share of drawbacks like any other electronic device.
